Mary R. (Holtzapple) Lauer

York—Mary R. (Holtzapple) Lauer, 97, died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Broadmore Senior Living at York. She was the wife of the late Norman R. Lauer. A Gathering of Friends will be held from 10-11 AM, Monday, March 30, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, which will be followed by a Graveside Service at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born April 22, 1917 in York, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Cora D. (Musser) Holtzapple. She was employed as a waitress at the Lafayette Club for 12 years until her retirement and previously worked at the Bon Ton Tea Room. She was devoted to and loved caring for her family, loved camping and spending winters in Florida with her husband and enjoyed playing cards. Mrs. Lauer is survived by one daughter, Bonnie L. Doelp and her husband, Charles of York; two grandchildren, Stephanie Amspacher and her husband, Butch and Douglas Doelp; one great granddaughter, Haley Doelp; two great-great grandchildren, Emmett and Morgan and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. In lieu of flower memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Cemetery: A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Rose Cemetery following the viewing at the funeral home.
