Mary O. (Shay) Haines

YORK- Mary O. (Shay) Haines, 86 of Manchester Twp., passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 at ManorCare Health Services-York North. She was the loving wife of the late Earnest H. Haines, Sr. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Chaplain Wesley Mast officiating. A viewing will be held 9-10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Haines was born October 3, 1923 in York, a daughter of the late Edgar F. and Mary O. (Ellis) Shay. She was a former employee of Howard Johnson Hotel, York, and of Central York School District. She was also a former Cub Scout Leader. Mrs. Haines was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed spending her free time planting and maintaining her garden. Mrs. Haines is survived by three sons; Earnest H. Haines, Jr., Jeffrey L. Haines, and Peter N. Haines and wife, Joane M. all of York; a daughter Mary O. Hoffman and husband, Dale E. of York; seven grandchildren, Terry Lehman and wife, Julie, Lori Neiderer, Erica Dellinger, Carmen Witmer and husband, Jared, Adam Haines, Jacob Haines, and Debra Andress and husband, Dave; a sister Theda Mae Wisner of Eugene, OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother W. Blaine Shay. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417 Concord Road, Suite A, York, PA 17402.
