Mary "Maria" (Arapakis) Kailian

YORK – Mary “Maria” (Arapakis) Kailian, 87, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, March 29, 2024 in Malvern, PA. She was the wife of the late Hrats K. Kailian.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 8, 2024 at St. John Chrysostom Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2397 N. Sherman Street, York with The Very Rev. Fr. Peter Pier officiating. A viewing will be held from 11-12:00 Noon on Monday at the Church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Mary’s funeral service can be viewed in the area directly below the obituary.

Born August 6, 1936 in Serres, Greece, Mary was the daughter of the late Nikolaos and Chrysanthi Arapakis. Mary was a devoted cosmetologist and owned Maria’s Beauty Salon for a number of years in downtown York. She later found employment through Bon-Ton's Salon and most recently enjoyed working at SmartStyle in East & West York. Mary left an imprint on the community as she strived to make her clients feel their very best and offered unconditional friendship along the way. Mary also had a very strong faith as a member of York Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation and also attended St. John Chrysostom Antiochian Orthodox Church. She cherished spending time with her sons, grandchildren & great granddaughter; loved cooking; and would visit her family and friends in Greece as much as possible throughout the years. She brought life into every room she entered and will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Kailian is survived by two sons, Alex H. Kailian of Lancaster and Robert N. Kailian of York; two grandchildren, Ashley and Steven Kailian; a great granddaughter, Braya Hippensteel; and many nieces and nephews in American and Greece. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
