Mary Louise Garrison

Hershey – Mary L. (Marcin) Garrison was born on March 10, 1921 to Michael and Bernetta (Stahler) Marcin in Tamaqua, PA, 100 years and two days before quietly transitioning to her new state of being on March 12, 2021. After earning her RN from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Reading, Mary left Tamaqua with her late husband, Robert Gallagher, and infant daughter and headed to Hershey, PA. Mary married her late husband, George Garrison, in 1961. Mary worked at Hershey Hospital and then in the Health Center at Milton Hershey School for over 50 years, retiring when she was 90 years old. She was proud to be inducted as an honorary member of the Milton Hershey School Alumni Association in 2012. She was beloved by students and staff alike. She was a member of the Red Cross, as well as the Areba Travel Club. She was a social butterfly well into her 90’s, belonging to several social groups- the Cleos, the Golden Girls and the Home Girls. She discovered cruising at age 85 and managed to go on 10 cruises! She is survived by daughter, Kathleen Watson and her partner Susan Horner; step-son, Richard Garrison and wife Betty of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; 12 nieces; 6 nephews and sister-in-law, Ann Marcin. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Harahus and husband George, Delores Erbe and husband Louis, and Grace Faust and husband William, and her brother, Joseph Marcin. Mary was a kind and generous person. Everyone who met Mary loved her. She will be missed by many! A service will be planned at a future date in consideration of everyone’s safety.
