Mary Katherine Johnson

MILTON - Mary Katherine Johnson, 97, and formerly of New York, died on Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Kramm Health Care Center, Milton. Mary was born on November 15, 1910 in Altoona and was a daughter of the late Guion E. and Nettie C.(Ward) Johnson. She was a graduate of Milton Area High School. She was a Private Duty Nurse and had worked at the Montefiore Hospital in New York. Following her retirement as a nurse, she had moved to Milton. During this time, she went to work at the local cannery and talked about enjoying her time there preparing the string beans for the canning process. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Milton. Mary is survived by one niece; Margo A. Smith and her husband Alvin of Detroit, MI, one nephew; Gary R. Moore of Absecon, NJ, and a host of grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother; Arthur K. Moore and one nephew; Arthur H. Moore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Broadway, Milton. Father Thomas A. Scala will officiate the service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Milton. There will be a public viewing 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton.
