YORK- Mary K. Essock of York, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Providence Place Retirement Community in Dover. She was the wife of the late John Essock. A service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at Saint John Chrysostom Orthodox Church, 2398 N. Sherman Street in York. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., and 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Mrs. Essock was born in Manhattan, NY on December 2, 1926, a daughter of the late Peter and Tessie (Zifchak) Krempasky. She was a member of Saint John Chrysostom Orthodox Church in York, where she was a member of the choir. She was a member of Red Hats Society, Golden Nuggets, and the Widow/Widowers Support Group, and she worked on the Linus Project. She was a 1943 graduate of Girls High School in Brooklyn, NY, where she was a member of the City Champs Volleyball Team. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking, Knitting, Crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Essock leaves two daughters: Liz Williams of York and Patti Bromley and her husband Dan of New Cumberland, a daughter-in-law, Ellen Essock of Spring Grove, five grandsons: Michael and Andrew Bromley, Christopher, Joseph and Nicholas Essock, a brother, George Krempasky and his wife Evelyn of Harrisburg, a sister Katherine Pilc of Harrisburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. John R. Essock, a brother, Peter Krempasky, and a sister, Annie Kozuck. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint John Chrysostom Orthodox Church, 2398 N. Sherman St., York, PA 17404. She was 39 years old for 41 years. She beat Jack Benny.
