WEST CHESTER- Mary Jane (Urey) Walker, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 after a long fought battle with dementia, knowing that she was loved beyond compare. She was the wife of the late James F. “Jim” Walker, to whom she was married 56 years before his passing in 2012. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Pastor Eva O’Diam officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Born July 29, 1936 in Red Lion, Mary Jane was daughter of the late George and Goldie (Sitler) Urey. She worked as a receptionist for the York Area Chamber of Commerce and prior to that for the I.H. Hershner Company. Mrs. Walker was a member of Hayshire United Church of Christ. Mary Jane derived her greatest joy from serving in the roles of wife, mother, and grandmother. Her husband Jim was her soul mate and partner in life. As a wife, her loyalty and devotion were immeasurable. Mary Jane also took immense pride in being a mother to Steve and Lisa and inspired in them the value of family, a love of people, and an appreciation for sweet treats. She was the consummate grandmother- joyfully and thoughtfully celebrating every holiday, life milestone, and achievement, no matter how small. Mary Jane was defined by her kind and caring nature, as she made everyone in her life feel special and loved. She never missed an opportunity to shower her family and friends with thoughtful gifts, but her unconditional love and kindness were truly the greatest gifts of all. Mrs. Walker is survived by a son, Steven C. Walker and his wife Lisa of Spring Grove; a daughter, Lisa E. Leone and her husband Daniel of West Chester; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Walker, Andrew Walker and Alexis Leone; a brother, Russell Urey and his wife Carol of Dallastown; a sister, Vicky Snyder and her husband Blaine of El Paso, TX, and a sister-in-law, Joann Urey of West York. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Urey.
