Mary Jane (Gibbons) Clayton

NEW COLUMBIA - Mary Jane (Gibbons) Clayton, 65, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She was born on November 11, 1951 in Lewisburg and was the daughter of the late Clifford and Edna (Tinley) Gibbons. On July 5, 1991 Mary married Gene L. Clayton, who survives and they celebrated their 26 wedding anniversary last month. Mary worked at American Home foods and retired after 27 years. She enjoyed painting ceramics, rainbow looms, cross stitching, watching the birds and elk, shopping at thrift stores and yard sales but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Gene, Mary is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Frank and Melissa Mertz of Sheffield, one daughter and son-in-law; Pat and Stan Bogus of New Columbia, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law; Richard and Sue Gibbons of Milton and one brother-in-law; Larry Hornberger. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one sister; Lilly Hornberger. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Daniel Hicks of Buffalo Valley United Methodist Church, Lewisburg officiating. Burial will follow in Montandon Cemetery.
