YORK - Mary Jane [Gavin] Sopp, 81, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Rest Haven - York. She was the wife of the late Metro Sopp, Jr. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd., York with Rev. Fr. Joseph Tuscan, OFM, Cap. officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10:00 AM Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born January 11, 1926 in Parsons, PA a daughter of the late David J. and Gabrielle [Markiza] Gavin, she retired from Campbell Chain Co. after 13 years; prior to that she had worked at Stauffer Biscuit Co. and was an LPN at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home for 10 years. She was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Sopp is survived by three daughters, Pamela M. and husband Wayne Mears of Dover, Debra A. and husband Donald Teal of Hanover, and Barbara A. and husband James Dixon of West Wyoming, PA; a son, Metro Sopp, III of York; nine grandchildren, Tina, Jimmy, Lindsey, and Ashley Teal, Heather Mears and fianc矄oug Adams, Tyler Mears, Brandy and Kris Goodman, Metro Sopp IV, and Cody Sopp; three brothers, Thomas Gavin of Texas, James Gavin of Allentown, and Richard Gavin of New Jersey; three sisters, Rose Coveliski of Buffalo, NY, Dorothy Wright of Tenn., and Patsy Kerr of Gettysburg. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tracy Dixon; two brothers; and a sister.
