Mary Jane (Clifford) Wallace

TENAFLY, NEW JERSEY-Mary Jane Wallace, 87, formerly of Old Forge, passed away Saturday at County Manor Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Tenafly, NJ following an illness. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years the late Ernest G. Wallace, who passed away on November 27, 2006 Mary was born in Avoca on May 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Anthony L. and Irene (McHale) Clifford. She was a graduate of Avoca High School and a member of St. Mary's Church, Avoca. As a young girl Mary worked at the family business, Clifford's Ice Cream Parlor, with her sisters and brother. She also worked in The Defense Industries in New Jersey during World War II. She spent the majority of her years working at Revello's Caf窠Old Forge. Mary was dedicated to her family and to her job. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her fun-loving personality, generosity, and most of all her kind heart. Surviving are her three children Mary Ann Byrnes, Hackensack, NJ; Jane Bishop and husband Jack, Allentown: a son Anthony "Tony" Wallace, Old Forge; grandchildren Todd and Carly Bishop, Allentown PA whom she adored. Mary is also survived by her sister Theresa Lokuta and her husband Thomas, Avoca; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death were her sisters, Geraldine Curry, Ann Carden, Irene Singer, Jean Carruthers, Catherine Golden, Grace Clifford, and brother Anthony Clifford. The funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from Kniffen-O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Avoca, to be celebrated by The Reverend Phillip J. Sladicka. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Avoca. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
