Mary H. Groce

LOCK HAVEN - Mary H. (Thomas) Groce, 98, a former resident of Sturdevant Street, Flemington died Friday, December 8, 2017 at Susque View where she resided for the past year. She was born September 22, 1919 in Elimsport a daughter of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Losch) Thomas. Mary was married to Lemuel G. Groce who died in 1990. She worked for Piper Aircraft retiring in 1981 after 40 years. She enjoyed bingo and was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Lock Haven Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Ross Library, Piper Aviation Museum and also a former volunteer at the Lock Haven Hospital. Surviving are two step-daughters; Carolyn Kline, Lock Haven and Nancy Crissman of Milesburg. Several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews survive. She is survived by a sister Ethel Fillman of Woolrich. Mary was preceded in death by a step-daughter Jacque Groce in 2012 and also six brothers, Merle, Edgar, Charles, Fred, Raymond, and Donald. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1174 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven with the Rev. Patty Dodds officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ Memorial Fund in her memory. Burial will be private at Jersey Shore Cemetery. Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall has charge of arrangements.
