Mary Esther (Simcoe) Van Horn

TOWANDA- Mary Esther (Simcoe) Van Horn, 85, of Towanda, but formerly of Columbia Crossroads and Troy, PA passed away on Monday, January 15, 2007 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Towanda Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Van Horn who passed away on August 29, 1991. Due to the possibility of inclimate weather the committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Officiating will be Mary's pastor, Rev. Garry Zuber. Mary was born on March 1, 1921 in Springfield Township, Bradford County, PA. She was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Edith (Parmenter) Simcoe. Mary was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1939. She was a long time member of the East Troy Baptist Church. Mary was self employed; she did domestic work for several families in and around Troy. Mary is survived by her sister Virginia S. Inman of Troy, PA, her sister and brother-in-law Ina S. and Robert Schucker of Troy, PA, her sister Lucile Baxter of Columbia Crossroads, PA, her brother and sister-in-law Larry P. and Marlane Simcoe of Troy, PA and her sister-in-law Eleanor (Roy) Simcoe Zeigler of Troy, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, her brother Charles Faye Simcoe and her brothers-in-law Lyle D. Inman and C. Oliver Baxter. Contributions may be made in Mary's memory to the Western Alliance Ambulance Assoc. P.O. Box 13 Troy, PA 16947.
