Mary Ellen Deller

YORK – Mary Ellen (Duerr) Deller, 90, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at her home. A Service of Thanksgiving to Almighty God in celebration for her life will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 29, 2016, with The Rev. Ed Robbins officiating at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private in Joseph Giesey Cemetery in Shrewsbury. Born January 6, 1926 in Seitzland, Shrewsbury Twp. a daughter of the late Maurice A and Margaret C. (Gohn) Duerr, she was a 1944 graduate of New Freedom High School. Mrs. Deller retired from AMP, Inc. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Brogue, Ladies Auxiliary at New Freedom VFW and Daughters of America. Mary Ellen enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, playing cards, reading, completing puzzles and picking hard shell crabs. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and the friends she made throughout her life. Mrs. Deller is survived by six children, Patty A. and husband Bob Ames of York, John D. and wife Peggy Hunt of Airville, M. Michael and wife Sandy Hunt of Danville, KY, James R. and wife Debra Hunt of Glen Rock, The Rev. Tina H. and husband Allan Minnich and Deanna R. and husband Rick Ferree of York; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth N. Hoak of Windsor; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 224 St. Charles Way, St. 200, York, PA 17402.
