Mary E. (Ehrhart) Wertz

YORK – Mary Elizabeth (Ehrhart) Wertz, 96, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012. She was the wife of the late F. Kenneth Wertz, to whom she was married for 57 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Reverend Randy Hughes officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at Christ United Methodist Cemetery, in Jacobus. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wertz was born February 26, 1916 in Springfield Township, PA. She was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Reever) Ehrhart. She was employed for 45 years as a seamstress. She retired from Merry Mites in Jacobus. Mary was a life-long member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Jacobus, and was the oldest member of the church upon her death. She was also involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jacobus Fire Co., Ladies Auxiliary of County Fireman of York, the Widows Support Group, Four Five Fellowship and the Jacobus Leisure Club. Among her joys and hobbies was tending to her flower gardens, crocheting and embroidering, and taking extensive and frequent bus trips. Mary is survived by a daughter, Lois Hahn, of Dover; grandchildren Brian Hahn and his wife, Bridget, of West York, and Barry Hahn and his wife, Toni, of Madison, NC. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard D. Hahn, a grandson, Bradley Hahn, three sisters and four brothers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 200 North Main Street, Jacobus, PA 17407.
