Mary Dolores (Wagner) Myers

York--Mary Dolores (Wagner) Myers, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at age 89 after a long battle with dementia. She was the wife of Henry E. Myers of York. Henry and Dolores recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past October. Dolores was born on December 7, 1927 in York. She was the daughter of the late Nevin S. Wagner and Ann L. (Brown) Wagner. She was the last of 12 children. Dolores graduated from William Penn High School in 1945. Upon graduation she worked as a secretary in the Industrial Art Department at William Penn High School. After her marriage to Henry she continued to work and help Henry finish his degree at Millersville University. After his graduation, she decided to raise her family and be a stay home Mom. During that time she was a playground monitor at East York Elementary, a York Suburban Band Parent and was a fan of her children’s athletic pursuits. Later Dolores re-entered the work force and after 17 years, she retired from York Hospital Outpatient Registration. During her retirement she traveled the world with Henry, played bridge, bowled in leagues and attended Aqua Aerobics at the JCC where she loved to give her instructors a hard time. Dolores is survived by her husband, Henry; daughter, Jeri Myers of York; son, wife and granddaughter, Henry “Cub”, Becky and Katie Myers of Cincinnati, OH; daughter and husband, Jo and Orvin Craley of Hellam; her dog, Petee and many granddogs and grandcats. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10AM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Dennis A. Hummel of Yorkshire United Methodist Church. A viewing will be held from 9-10AM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice
