Mary Catherine Quirk

Pottsville- Mary Catherine Quirk, 62,of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont. Born in Pottsville on June 27, 1948, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Alice Reddington Quirk. Mary Catherine participated her whole life in programs from educational learning to working skills provide by the Pottsville United Cerebral Palsy (UCP). She retired in 2004 from the UCP Greenhouse Program at Agricultural Park after 48 fulfilling years of accomplishment and fun. Mary Catherine was a life time member of Saint Patrick Church, Pottsville. In addition to her parents, Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her sister Catherine Quirk; her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Catherine Moore Quirk, of Hecsherville; her maternal grandparents, Matthew Leo and Catherine Doran Reddington, of Gallows Row, Minersville . Mary Catherine is survived by her sister, Alice C. Sheerer, of Phoenix, AZ; her four brothers, Francis J. Quirk, of Newark, DE, Joseph M., Deacon Jack and Robert T. Quirk, all of Pottsville; her aunt; Dolly Calderone, of the Minersville area; her Uncle Skip Pau, of the Minersville area. Mary loved her sisters in law and her brother in law who showed her nothing but love and compassion. She loved being with them as family was the most important part of her life. Mary has a large family with many nieces and nephews. It was interesting that she could tell you everyone of their middle names and their birthday. Special to Mary was her niece Linda Stock, who helped her have a quality of life. Mary Catherine was a special gift to the Quirk family and was loved and spoiled throughout her life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Patrick’s Church, Pottsville. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning from 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass in the church. Interment services will be held in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Chapel.
