Mary C. Kitty" (Hamme) Newcomer

BERLIN, MD - Mary C. "Kitty" (Hamme) Newcomer, 94, formerly of York, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. She was the wife of the late Earl C. Newcomer. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Rev. Dr. Harry Wolpert, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Ocean City, MD officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born December 14, 1915 in Paradise Twp., she was a daughter of the late Ervin C. and Jennie P. (Leib) Hamme. Mrs. Newcomer retired in 1977 from York Hospital where she was a registered nurse for 15 years. She had been a member of the former Bethany United Church of Christ in York and was a member of the York Hospital Alumni. Mrs. Newcomer is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline K. and husband John Peterson of Berlin; four grandchildren, Debra Smith, Michael Bennington, Christian Myers and Elizabeth Vailhe; nine great grandchildren, Donnie, Jennie, Brandy, Christopher, Renee, Michelle, Madeline, Remy, and Taylor; a brother, Ervin C. Hamme of Annville, PA; a sister, Pauline Sipling of York; and a sister in law, Ruby Simpson of New Freedom. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lee Patnode; a granddaughter, Tori; two brothers, Ralph W. and Charles R. Hamme; and two sisters, Annabelle Herman and J. Maxine Meckley.
