Mary Annette (Keese) Knitter

YORK- Mary Annette (Keese) Knitter, 85, died on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Stanley C. Knitter. They were married 47 years. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Grace Fellowship Church, 1405 Seven Valleys Rd., York. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on October 19, 1932 in Lansdale, she was a daughter of the late Norman A. and Ella M. (Smith) Keese. She graduated in 1951 from Sellersville-Perkasie High School. Mary and her husband had a grocery store and post office in Elroy for 12 years. In 1973, they moved to Spring Grove. She worked in the document management department at Dupont Electronics from 1973 to 1991. From 1991 to 1994 she worked at Dyncorp then took care of her husband until his death in 2000. Mrs. Knitter was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in York New Salem where she volunteered in various ministries for many years. More recently, Mary enjoyed friends and activities at the Windy Hill Senior Center and Country Meadows Retirement Community where she was considered an ambassador in welcoming new residents. Mrs. Knitter is survived by one son, S. Kevin Knitter and wife, Kathryn of Spring Grove. In addition, Mary is survived by two step-granddaughters, Erin Elizabeth Kleinbohl and Rebecca Ann Nehr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul E. Keese and sister, Dorothy J. Mundy. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Church, 1405 Seven Valleys Rd., York, PA 17408.
