Mary Anna Clara (Drabic) Friel

MONTOURSVILLE - Mary Anna Clara (Drabic) Friel, 89, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, Williamsport. She was born on December 04, 1923 in South Renovo and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Haschak) Drabic. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Renovo. Mary Anna married the late Francis Joseph “Shiek” Friel, Sr. on August 18, 1945. Mary Anna served in the United States Navy during World War II. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo and a member of American Legion Post #268, Muncy. She enjoyed watching the Fighting Irish Football team, cross-stitching, sewing, word puzzles and playing cards. Mary Anna is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Richard E. and Linda Friel of Montoursville, Paul J. and Anne Friel of Williamsport and Michael J. and Wanda Friel of Lock Haven, three daughters and sons-in-law; Kathleen M. and William Anderson of Bitumen, Sandra M. and John Francis of Renovo and Alice J. and Chris Cain of Bellefonte, 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law; Rosemary Polito of Renovo and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son; Francis Friel, Jr., one granddaughter; Dawn Kathleen, one great-grandson; Jayden Fischer and three brothers; Francis, James and Thomas Drabic. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Improvement Fund, 925 Huron Ave, Renovo, PA 17764. A gathering of friends will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo, followed by the memorial service at 10:00 a.m.. Inturnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hyner Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo, PA 17764.
