YORK- Mary A. (Prebola) Levisky, 105, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Yorkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of the late John S. Levisky.


Mrs. Levisky was born in Plains, PA on March 4, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Shedlock) Prebola.


Mrs. Levisky was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in York. She was an avid crocheter, crocheting hundreds of afghans and won a blue ribbon at the York Fair. She was an incredible Slovakian cook and spent time teaching her family this talent. Early on she worked part time at the Rambler Inn.


Mrs. Levisky leaves two sons, Bernard D. “Ben” Levisky and his wife Carolyn; Joseph “Joe” Levisky and his wife Maureen; five grandchildren, Johnny, Laurie, Sherri, Joe, and Ann Marie; and 11 great grandchildren. She was the last of 12 children. She was preceded in death by a son, John “Jack” Levisky.


Burial of her cremated remains will take place privately in Sacred Heart Cemetery/St. Mary’s Catholic Byzantine Church in Dallas, PA. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Rosemont section of Yorkview Nursing for Mary’s wonderful care. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market Street, York, PA 17401.
