Marvin Warren Cole Sr.

Marvin Warren Cole, Sr., 73, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday Morning at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Township. Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 12, 1939, he was the son of the late Leonard and Lena “Sara” (Jackson) Cole. Marvin graduated from Grand Army of the Republic High School, Wilkes-Barre, in 1956, where he was named Athlete of the Year. He broke several school records during his time at G.A.R After high school, he joined the U.S. Army serving from 1963-1969 during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, Marvin worked for many years at the Westmoreland Club of Wilkes-Barre. He was also a member of the 402 Club. Prior to retiring, Marvin worked at several local businesses in the Wyoming Valley. Marvin enjoyed watching sports with football being his favorite. He especially enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboy games. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; his second wife, Rodean (Cagigas) Cole and his third wife, Marilyn (Cragle) Cole. Surviving are three sons, Marvin W. Cole, Jr., Baltimore, MD, Gary M. Cole, San Antonio, TX, Christopher L. Cole, Danville, a daughter, Candice J. Cole, Philadelphia, his former wife Cynthia (Wallace) Barnes, 4 grandchildren, Marvin III, Jasmine, Pree and Mulani. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from 5:00PM till the time of the service at the Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00PM Tuesday with Reverend James Breese officiating and cremation to follow. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
