WILKES-BARRE-Martha E. (Dudley) Medley, 72, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 17, 1938, she was a daughter of the late John Edward and Viola May (Houchens) Dudley. Martha was a graduate of G.A.R. High School and also attended Channey State Teachers College in PA on an athletic scholarship. She was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre. While successfully raising her own 8 children, she helped mold the minds of many children. She was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and Girl Scout leader. Martha worked at the former Pomeroy's Department Store as a sales clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Leonard Medley, Sr.; son Eric Marshal Medley, Sr.; daughter Marcy Jo Medley; and brothers, Frank, John, Carl and Daniel Lawrence Dudley. Martha leaves to treasure her memory, sons, Morris "Marty" Leonard Medley, Jr., and Jayme Morris Medley, both of Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Kimberley Medley and Chyna Lee (David) Reese, all of Wilkes-Barre; Holly (Albert) Browning, Charlotte, NC; and Tracy Ann (Lewis) Powell, Myersville, MD; grandchildren, Austyn, Aubrey, Aryss, Armani and Ayland Browning, all of NC, Eric Marshal Jr. and Alexia Medley, both of Wilkes-Barre; Marcel Morris ,Khiyre Medley and Marcy Earlene Medley, all of LA; Stevland Morris Medley, Chayna Elizabeth , Joel Ryan and Kevin Morri Foster, all of Wilkes-Barre; Raye' Vaughn and Anthony Powell, MD; great grandchildren, Mahki and Ayanna Powell, Myla Turner, Julian and Aniya Foster; brothers, Myers Dudley, Wilkes-Barre; Andrew Dudley, VA; and Warren Dudley, Newport News, VA; sisters, Estelle (Charles) Gilliam, Newport News, VA; and Gloria Alexander, Philadelphia, PA; a host of nieces and nephews. Homegoing Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with The Reverend Shawn Walker and the Reverend Brian Medley officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that any flowers, cards or gifts be sent to the funeral home.
