YORK- Martha A. Van Order, 67, previously of Doylestown, OH, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the wife of R. Bruce Van Order, Jr. The couple had celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on July 26. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Rd., Loganville, with Pastor Jim Allard and Reverend Christine V. Blackford officiating. Visitations will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday and 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, both at the church. Burial will be in Codorus Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Van Order was born on October 7, 1943 in Barberton, OH, a daughter of the late Carroll and Zella V. (Indoe) Allard. Martha recently worked as a realtor for Century 21 Heritage until her retirement in 2007. Prior to, she worked as an educator in the York County School Districts. Mrs. Van Order was an active member of Codorus Church of the Brethren where she was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Martha was a 1969 graduate of Millersville University where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the York Quilters Guild, an active member of the Kiwanis Club of York and active in the Loganville 4H Club. Along with her husband, R. Bruce, Mrs. Van Order is survived by a son, Jon Van Order and his wife Karine of Ardmore, OK; a daughter, Beth Van Order of Anchorage, AK; and twin children Tim Van Order and his wife, Tiffany of Charlotte, NC and Lori McNew and her husband, Steve of Chambersburg.; four grandchildren, Sophie Zella, Charlotte Marie, Camden Reiley and Elbridge Pierson; three brothers; Robert Allard and his wife, Betty of Murfreesboro, TN, Jim Allard and his wife, Janet of Sheldon, WI and David Allard and his wife, Gloria of Franklin, TN; and two sisters, Linda Allard-Gallen of Washington Depot, CT and Marianne Woodside of Doylestown, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Rd., Dallastown, PA 17313.
