Renovo—Marlin L. Peters, 85, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Carol R. (Abel) Peters to whom he was married for 23 years. A celebration of life service will be held 9 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Church, Tamarack, with Pastor Mahlon Nevel officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, Pa 17408 is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Peters was born July 10, 1922 in Milesburg, a son of the late Clyde and Lottie (Wykoff) Peters. He was employed as railroad engineer with Conrail Railroad, formerly Pennsylvania railroad for 47 years until his retirement in 1987. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he was also a member of the Benevolent order of Elks. In addition to his wife, Mr. Peters is also survived by five sons, Michael Peters of Renovo, John Peters of Downers Grove, IL, Donald Peters of Lock Haven, Donald Hedgeland of New Freedom and Randy Hedgeland of Columbia, MD, three daughters, Patti Griffey of Montoursville, Camella Manning of Denver, CO, and Jennifer Hetzer of New Freedom, 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, Pa 17110.
