Marlet M. Spangler

YORK- Marlet M. Spangler, 95, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at Manor Care Health Services-South. He was the husband of the late Norma J. (Mohr) Spangler, who died on September 1, 2003. The couple had been married for 62 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, with his pastor, The Reverend Kevin T. Shively officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born on December 14, 1917 in York, he was a son of the late George E. and Daisy (Waltermyer) Spangler. Marlet worked as a Superintendant for General Machine Works, Inc., for over 45 years until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Spangler was a life member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making grandfather clocks and furniture. He also enjoyed mall walking. Mr. Spangler served our country for two years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Spangler is survived by his son, Marlet M. Spangler, Jr. and his wife, Susan of York; his daughter, Diana M. Billet of York; four grandchildren, Kirk-Evan Billet, Marlon M. Spangler, Heather S. Kemery and Pamela E. McKendrick; and four great grandchildren, Brian K. Traigo, Crystal L. McKendrick, Garrett A. Kemery and Clayton T. Kemery. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
