YORK- Marlene S. (Orndoff) Eyster, 56, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at her residence. She was the wife of Thomas G. Eyster, to whom she was married for 32 years. The couple wed on November 14, 1981. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Jessica R. Smith officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Born on June 21, 1957 in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late George and Sarah (Watson) Orndoff. Marlene worked 18 years for the West York School District, most recently as a secretary for Wallace Elementary School. Mrs. Eyster was highly involved at the West York School District over the years. She was especially devoted to being a compassionate and loving “second mom” to the West York Band family and all of the other students she worked with throughout her career. She also enjoyed arts and crafts. Along with her husband, Thomas, Marlene is survived by two sons, Andrew Eyster of Glen Burnie, MD and Christopher Eyster of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Rita McCue and her husband Jack of Wampum, PA and Patricia Orndoff of Pittsburgh; one niece, Sharon McAllister; and two nephews, John McCue and George McCue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Penn State Hershey Medical Center Cancer Institute at PennStateHershey.org/web/cancer or to UPMC Women’s Cancer Center, 300 Halket St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
