Marjorie R. (Kreitzer) Rutter

YORK- Marjorie R. (Kreitzer) Rutter, 83, passed away, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at her residence in Manchester Twp. She was the wife of the late Leo E. Rutter to whom she was married 62 years until his passing in September of 2020.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial of cremated remains will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Born on August 19, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Pauline (Vogelsong) Kreitzer. Marjorie was a homemaker and worked on the farm, taking care of the calves.

Mrs. Rutter was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in York. Marjorie loved the outdoors, especially taking her dogs for walks and gardening. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and rocking the premature babies at York Hospital for years. Mrs. Rutter was passionate about her family and loved spending time with them, especially watching her children and grandchildren compete in sports.

Mrs. Rutter is survived by three children, Cindy Johnson and husband Tom of York, Tim Rutter and his fiancé, Paula Carvalho of York and Tina Burkett and husband, John of York; six grandchildren, Terri Sigler and husband, the late Mike of York, Kelly Johnson of York, Danielle Strait and husband, Andrew of Charlotte, NC, Megan Rutter of Laurel, MD, Morgan Rutter of Los Angeles, CA and John Burkett, III and wife, Hillary of Beaver Falls; and four great grandchildren.

A special thank you to all her compassionate and dedicated caregivers who were an important part of her life and became like family.
