MILL HALL - Marjorie Mayes Bangson, age 82, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Feb. 20, 2010, at Susque-View Home where she had resided for the past two years. She was born on Nov. 7, 1927 in Bald Eagle Township, daughter of the late John R. and Georgie B. (Milner) Mayes. Marjorie was a graduate of Lock Haven High School in 1945 and on January 21, 1951 she married James W. Bangson Jr. who preceded her in death in 1988. She worked for many years as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and then at the Lock Haven University bookstore from which she retired in 1987. Marjorie previously served on the Bald Eagle Township planning commission, was a Keystone Central School Board member for many years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneer's of America. She was a life member of the Mill Hall Church of Christ where she enjoyed her church family and spending time in fellowship with them. Marjorie was one of the original cast members of the "OFF B.E.N. Avenue Follies" where for many years; she helped with the costumes and had a reoccurring role in the popular skit featuring Mert and Gert the Cleaning Ladies. She could also be found enjoying the Saturday afternoon BEN football games. She and her husband, Jim, also enjoyed attending the Saturday night card parties at various local Grange Halls. One of Marjorie's greatest joys was her granddaughter, Elizabeth Bangson, who brought her many smiles and lots of laughter during their visits together. Surviving is her son: James J. (Lisa) Bangson of Mill Hall, granddaughter: Elizabeth Bangson of Mill Hall, sister: Barbara (Tom) Gummo of Parowan, Utah, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Jean Mayes and Shirley Meckes and one brother: John R. Mayes. Memorial services will be held at the Mill Hall Church of Christ at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 with Pastor James H. Redmon officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.
