HANLON HILL- Marjorie E. (Strait) Stahl, 79, of Hanlon Hill in Ridgebury Twp., PA, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Twp., PA. She was born on January 1, 1930 in Hunlock Creek, PA, the daughter of the late Murray Russell Strait, Sr. and Maude (Cragle) Smith-Strait. Many folks will remember she was the first to open a personal care home for the elderly, the Butler Home, in the area in 1966. Marjorie loved the Lord. She first became a Christian and was baptized by Pastor Kelvin Jones of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church in the early 1990's. When she was unable to attend church she was a faithful watcher of the "Hour of Power" with Dr. Robert Shuler and was an avid Bible reader. Marjorie's focus throughout life was the caring of family and friends. Some of her favorite times were spent cooking for Sunday dinners and the frequent parties she liked to have. She loved all of her family, her grandsons, and her dog Sassy. Marjorie's family includes her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Dick Janowsky of Hanlon Hill in Ridgebury Twp., PA, grandsons; James Richard Janowsky and fianc矍artine Torchon, Daniel Ryan Janowsky, Randy David Strait and wife Jodi with daughter Kristina, and Brian James Strait and son Derrick, her brother Glen Strait and wife Sue, her sister Edna Mae Sorber, her sisters-in-law Betty Jean Strait, Anna Smith, and Sylvia Strait, her step children Ford Butler and wife Lois, Steven Butler and wife Hazel, Pat Butler and Lori, and Roxanne Smith, several nieces and nephews, her special friends including: Judy, Mart, Bev, Marilyn, Linda, all her personal care aides, and her pen pals Rose and Chrissy, and canine companion Sassy. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Seth D. Cragle, her second husband James F. Butler, her third husband Julius Stahl, her brothers; Murray Russell Strait, Jr., Leroy "Bick" Strait, Lloyd Thompson Strait and wife Adelaide, and George Smith, her special niece Diane Wildoner Keiper, and special nephew Robert "Bobby" Strait. Family and friends are welcome to call from 3:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. The memorial service to honor Marjorie's life will be held at 5:00 PM on March 28th at the funeral home with Rev. Edward Crandall officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie's memory to the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, 13255 Berwick Turnpike Gillett, PA 16925.
