Marion Edith (Rumsey) Knapp

GILLETT- Marion Edith (Rumsey) Knapp, 96, of the Phyl-Carlo Personal Care Home in Gillett, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. She was the loving wife of the late Cecil A. Knapp who passed away on December 6, 1993. The couple married on August 4, 1937 and had 56 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2008 and again from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday Morning, February 18th at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Marion's life will be held after the viewing at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 18th at the funeral home with her pastor, Pastor Mira Goss, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Marion was born on July 9, 1911 in Bentley Creek, PA. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mittie (Bartlett) Rumsey. Marion graduated from Mansfield Normal School in 1930, now Mansfield University, with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at several one-room schoolhouses in the area, and went on to teach at the Mosherville Elementary School until her retirement. Marion was a faithful member of the Coryland Church. Marion is survived by her nieces: Louise (Lynn) Ayres of Granville Summit, PA, and Lucille (Herbert) Mallory of Chambersburg, PA, and her nephew Clyde (Marilyn) Bristol of Lawrence, KS, several great nieces and nephews, and special friends: George and Diana Duchemin. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil, and her two sisters: Maude Bristol and Myrtle Ogden.
