RED LION – Marilyn M. (Meads) McGuigan, 86, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fredrick F. McGuigan. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main St., Red Lion with Rev. David L. Ritterpusch and Rev. Brian Percy officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born August 4, 1924 in Red Lion, a daughter of the late Arthur M. and H. Erdine (Hedrick) Meads, she was a 1942 graduate of Red Lion High School and a 1945 graduate of Maryland General School of Nursing where she earned her Registered Nurse degree. Mrs. McGuigan was an occupational health nurse for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. John’s UCC, Maryland General Hospital Alumni Assoc., and Caterpillar Retirees Group. Mrs. McGuigan was an avid bridge player and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles; served as a docent at the York Historical Society; volunteered at Village Library in Jacobus; treasured spending time at her beach home in Lewes, DE and her many travels throughout the world. Above all, the time spent with family was most important to her. Mrs. McGuigan is survived by a daughter, Patti A. and husband Donald May of Red Lion; two grandchildren, Adam and Elizabeth May; a brother, Frederick M. Meads of Red Lion; and a sister, Fayne M. Holland of Red Lion. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Meads McGuigan. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s UCC, 161 N.
