York—Mariko (Inoue) Landis, 62, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her residence in Manchester Township. She was the wife of John E. Landis with whom she celebrated 40 years of marriage on October 6th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 8 PM, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. A visitation will be held from 7-8 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born April 2, 1949 in Fukuoka, Japan, she was a daughter of the late Hisashige and Chieko (Sumikawa) Inoue. She graduated from Kyushu Senior High School, an all girl school in Japan. She was employed with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service as an operations clerk and later with the American Red Cross as an accounting clerk. Most recently she was employed with Block Imaging System and FCI where she also worked as an accounting clerk. Mariko enjoyed life to its fullest, never wasting even a minute. She loved collecting Bing and Grandall Seagull pattern chinaware as well as other antique collectables. Her hobbies included making ceramics, knitting dollies and tablecloths, embroidering flower and other patterns, making washi eggs and washi egg boxes and making photo albums. She loved reading history and philosophy books and traveling to various historical and scenic locations. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Landis is also survived by two sons, Brian E. Landis and wife, Virginia of York and Keith A. Landis and wife, Mary Ann of Tachikawa, Japan; four grandchildren, Kenneth, Brandon, Kayla and Kodi; one brother, Masato Inoue and wife, Mikiko of Fukuoka, Japan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Seiji Inoue. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Office of University Development & Alumni Relation, A120, P.O.
