YORK – Marie L. (Rial) Flinchbaugh, 96, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Archie Barndt. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her Interim Pastor, The Rev. Patricia B. Mullen officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. Born March 13, 1915 in York, a daughter of the late Eldridge and Dorothy Ludwig, she had retired from Bendix Corp. During her retirement she had worked in the bakery department at Snyder’s Super Thrift. Mrs. Flinchbaugh was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Dallastown where she was active in the Sewing Circle. She was also a member of Red Lion Senior Center where she was in charge of Bingo and involved with the Blue Bird Club. Marie loved life and maintained a very active lifestyle well into her 90’s, traveling on bus trips, raising violets, antiquing, shopping, baking, and making crafts for various shows, all while never having a driver’s license. She cherished spending time with her family and never forgot to acknowledge a birthday for any of her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, or great great grandchildren. Mrs. Flinchbaugh is survived by a daughter, Norma J. Smith of York; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Beth Smith and a stepbrother, Bud Rial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Red Lion Senior Center, 20C Gotham Place, Red Lion, PA 17356.
