YORK – Marie C. Wagner (Rohrbaugh), 89, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Country Meadows on Trolley Road. She was the wife of Stewart R. Wagner to whom she was married for 70 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Monday and 9-10:00 AM Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at York Road Cemetery. Marie’s Tribute Service will be webcast on her obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com Born April 6, 1932 in Porters Sideling, Heidelberg Twp., a daughter of the late John G. Rohrbaugh and Bertha I. (Brillhart) Rohrbaugh Beard, and stepdaughter of the late Simon H. Beard; she was a 1950 graduate of Eichelberger High School and a graduate in speed writing, shorthand, and typing from Thompson’s Business School. Mrs. Wagner had worked at P.H. Glatfelter Co., South Pine Nightwear, Hill’s Dept. Store, Rutter’s Dairy, and had been the proprietor of the Old Homestead Inn in West York. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Shiloh U.C.C., and former member of Bethel U.C.C. Spring Grove where she had been a choir member of 36 years and Secretary of the Women’s Guild for many years. She was also a member of West York VFW 8951 Ladies Auxiliary, German American Society – Alpenrose, White Rose Polka Club, Western York County Democratic Club, and Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society. Marie enjoyed traveling with her husband, polka dancing, cooking holiday dinners for her family, having her great nieces and nephews over every Friday night for supper and sleepovers, and shopping at the Farmer’s Market. She loved to bake pumpkin pies, peanut butter fudge, and made the best mashed potatoes, fried oysters, steak, pork chops, macaroni and cheese, and chicken pot pie. In addition to her husband Stewart, Mrs. Wagner is predeceased by her sisters, Mary Jane Rohrbaugh and Edna Mae Rohrbaugh; many stepsisters and stepbrothers; a niece, Patsy and husband David Smeltzer of Scottsdale, AZ; great nephew, Michael and wife Lisa Smeltzer and their children Jade Sprenkle and Justin Smeltzer all of York; great nephew, Robert Smeltzer and girlfriend Shmekia Campbell of Baltimore; a great niece, Donna and husband Lyle Mabry of Scottsdale, AZ; and niece, Ruthann and husband Harold Miller of Spring Grove, in addition to many other nieces and nephews.
