Marianne (Lindquist) Hieber

YORK- Marianne L. Hieber, 62, entered eternal rest on February 13, 2014. She was born on October 8th 1951 in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Marier) Lindquist. Marianne was the loving wife of J. Stephen Hieber. The couple was to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary on February 27th. She was the beloved mother to J. Benjamin Hieber, his wife Stacy of York, PA, Sarah Elizabeth Hieber, her husband Mac Malkawi of Dover, PA and devoted grandmother to John Dylan Hieber and Lilliana Malkawi. Marianne was survived by her four sisters, Linda Gowdy and her husband John of Poestenkill, NY, Sue Gallagher of Aurora, IL, Jeanne Lindquist of Kaunakakai, HI and Joyce Zupko and her husband Steve of Hamilton, VA. Marianne was first and foremost, a loving homemaker. She loved nothing more than ensuring everyone in her life came before herself and that they were happy and well. She held various other positions such as a Registered Nurse, Accounting Clerk for Q106 Radio and was also a Gift Basket Entrepreneur. Her position of the last 14 years was with Mental Health America where she assisted those with mental illness. This position gave her more pleasure than anything else. Marianne enjoyed spending time with friends and family. While her children were growing up, she was very active with their school's PTO. She received a Gubernatorial honor for her involvement and dedication to the Organization. She loved spending time with both of her grandchildren. She spent her entire life helping others in need. When she wasn't helping others, one of her greatest pleasures was traveling. She enjoyed going to musicals and shows with close friends, only to be followed by a fantastic evening of dining. She enjoyed taking care of her koi pond and loved spending time and caring for her cats. However, her favorite place to be was seaside with her family, watching the waves crash onto the shore. We are certain that wherever she may be today, she has found her beach. A private family service will be held on February 18th, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the United Way of York, 800 E King St, York, PA 17403.
