Marguerite (Preston) Hite

PITTSTON- Marguerite (Preston) Hite, 79, of the Anthracite Apartments, Pittston, and formerly of Avoca, died peacefully and surrounded by her family at her daughter's home in West Wyoming on Wednesday, January 17, 2007. She was born in Avoca on May 5, 1927, daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Dwyer Preston. She ws a graduate of St. Mary's School, Avoca. Mrs. Hite retired from the International Ladies Garment Workers Union after 20 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and the Anthracite Social Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hite; son, Gerard "Jerry"' brothers, William, Thomas, James, and John "Jack" Preston sister, Lucille Burns. Surviving are her children, Thomas, Dallas,; Marilyn Chaikin, West Pittston; Robert, Hanover Township; Margaret Nemic, West Wyoming; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerard, Taylor; nieces and nephews. "People in life who are the happiest don't have the best of everythingÂ….they make the best of everything they have." Funeral services will be held Saturday t 12:30 p.m. from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with a mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Williams Street, Pittston. Monsignor John Bendik will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
