Marguerite Gaylets, 90, formerly of Avoca and Philadelphia, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at Wesley Village, Pittston. Marguerite was a daughter of the late James and Rose (Connell) O’Malley, she was born in Avoca on November 25, 1921. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Avoca and was a member of St. Mary’s, Avoca prior to moving to Philadelphia. Marguerite was a member of Divine Mercy (formerly Good Shepherd) in South Philadelphia while she lived in Philadelphia for over 40 years. Marguerite was a loving wife and a wonderful caregiver to their daughter, Mary Theresa, who was stricken ill when she was 4 years old. Marguerite devoted her life to caring for her daughter for 40 years till her passing. Marguerite was a warm, caring and compassionate person who would always put others before herself. In addition to being preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Theresa; She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert, who passed in 2005, 4 sisters, Grace McHale, Ann McCarthy, Frances Bell and infant sister, Rose O’Malley, 4 brothers, James, William, Lawrence and Joseph O’Malley. Surviving are a sister, Catherine McMullen, Plattsburg, NY, a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at 11:00 AM in Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Father Phillip J. Sladicka officiating, Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA on Thursday at 12:30PM. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM till the time of the Mass. Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca is entrusted with the arrangements.
