Marguerite E. (Horne) Delone

DOVER – Marguerite E. (Horne) DeLone, 93, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at home. She was born September 21, 1917 in York, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Ethel May (Long) Horne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. DeLone; her brother, D. Eugene Horne; and her nephew, Jeffrey Horne. She is survived by her daughter, Corinne DeLone-Ladd and husband, Jon Ladd of Dover. Marguerite is also survived by a twin sister, Mildred E. (Horne) Kern of Afton, NY; and her daughter, Dona (Kern) Davey; and two other nieces, Betsy (Horne) Biles and Regina Horne. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover. Marguerite graduated from William Penn Senior High School in the class of 19M35. She was a life-long member of Zion UCC, York. Marguerite served the York Hospital Auxiliary in many capacities on auxiliary projects and branch activities. Additionally, she was president of the York Hospital Auxiliary Board of Directors from 1978-1982 and 1987-1991, treasurer of the York Hospital Auxiliary Snack Bar; treasurer of the United Auxiliaries Council; president of the Northwestern Branch of the York Hospital Auxiliary; treasurer and health promotion chairman of the Central Regional Assoc. of the PA Association of Hospital Auxiliaries; and secretary-treasurer of the PA Assoc. of Hospital Auxiliaries. She was a life member of the York Hospital Foundation. Marguerite served as a member of the Matinee Musical Club Board of Directors; the Woman’s Club of York Board of Directors; and vice president of the York County Federation of Woman’s Clubs. Marguerite held various positions with the Shiloh Garden Club. She was a member of Pleasant Acres Auxiliary, Woman’s Club of Spring Grove, and Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society. Her family is grateful to the caregivers of Compassionate Care Hospice for assisting with this last journey of her earthly life.
