Marguarite J. (Johnson) Ruth

MONTOURSVILLE - Marguarite J. (Johnson) Ruth, 94 formerly of Milton, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville where she had resided for many years. She was born on December 20, 1919 in Milton and was the daughter of the late Parson B. and M. Elvena (Neuhard) Johnson. On March 20, 1942, Marguarite married the late Elmer W. Ruth and they celebrated 52 years of marriage together until his death on October 09, 1994. She was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1937 and went on to take classes from Pennsylvania Banking School. Marguarite worked for and retired from Commonwealth Bank and Trust, formerly the First National Bank of Milton where she served as Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer. Marguarite was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Milton, where she served in many capacities over the years. She served the Milton community in many ways by serving on the Library Committee, the Harvest Festival Committee, Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Club. She also served as Worthy Matron of Chapter 77 of the Order of the Eastern Star from 1976- 1977. She enjoyed reading, knitting, cross stitch, camping and was an avid card player. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Ronald E. and Yolanda Ruth of Montoursville and James S. and M. Aleath Ruth of Birmingham Alabama, two grandchildren; Ashley Ruth of Birmingham and Megan Ruth and Jade Badger of Williamsport, two great grandchildren; Kaleb and Kaeden Badger, one brother; Leon Johnson of Erie, one sister and brother-in-law; Joan B. and Jay Trate of Bloomsburg along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Marguarite was preceded in death by one brother; Charles N. Johnson and two sisters-in-law; Jean Johnson and Mary Lou Johnson. The family will provide the flowers and memorial contributions may be made to Hope Enterprises-Reaching Beyond Limits; C/O Children’s Developmental Center, 625 W. Edwin Street Williamsport, PA 17701 or to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1125 Mahoning Street, Milton PA 17847. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1125 Mahoning Street, Milton PA 17847 followed by an Eastern Star service conducted by the Lewisburg Eastern Star Chapter 394. The funeral will take place 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Patricia Pittsnogle officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E.
