Margot E. (Rohde) Butcher

YORK – Margot E. (Rohde) Butcher, 72, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Elwood I. Butcher, Jr. to whom she was married 49 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her pastor, The Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born September 28, 1939 in Kassel, Germany; a daughter of the late Johannes H. and Lisbeth (Bode) Rohde, she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church Starview. She was a life member of the West York VFW 8951 Ladies Auxiliary, and in 1996 was awarded the Presidential Citation for Community Service. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Butcher is survived by a son, Elwood I. Butcher, III and wife Grace of Gilbert, AZ; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Butcher; a sister, Brigitte Scribner of Milltown, Wisc.; and extended family living in Germany.
