Margaretta S. (Long) Mccauslin

Margaretta S. (Long) McCauslin, 94 died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at York Lutheran Home on Sprenkle Drive. She was the wife of the late John E. McCauslin and Archie K. Sullivan. She was greatly loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. A graveside service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are to gather at the Pennsylvania Street entrance at 9:45 AM. A visitation will be held 10:45-11:30 AM at West Poplar Street Church of God, 919 West Poplar Street, York. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 AM, with her pastor the Rev. Lloyd B. Noaker, Jr. officiating. Immediately following the memorial service friends and family are invited to a luncheon at the church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McCauslin was born April 1, 1914, in Wrightsville, a daughter of the late Harry C. and Katie E. (Parthemore) Long. She was a former employee of LG Potato Chip Factory for over 25 years until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. McCauslin was a member of West Poplar Street Church of God, York where she was honored as a Life Elder, taught the Arrow Sunday school class, served on the Women Christian Service Council and was former Treasure of the Missionary Society. She was a member and former Christmas Stocking Chairperson of Church Women-United and was also former Conference Delegate to Churches of God East PA. Known by her family and friends as "Grammie Mac", she loved crafts, singing, playing the saxophone and ocarina. During her childhood years, she participated in the family orchestra. Grammie Mac was a wonderful cook and baker, enjoyed playing practical jokes, and loved all animals and children. She was especially proud of having five generations attending church. Mrs. McCauslin is survived by two daughters, Darla L. Deardorff, and Karen E. Warner and husband Karl all of York; two step-sons, John R. and Ronald E. McCauslin; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodore R., Paul C., Adam and Harry Long; and two sisters, Florence M. Wolf and E. May Wilderson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West Poplar Street Church of God, 919 West Poplar Street, York, PA 17404.
