YORK - Margaret W. (Woodland) Everhart, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Abington Memorial Hospital from complications of pneumonia. She was the devoted wife of the late C. Byron Everhart, to whom she had been married for 56 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Everhart Jackson Heffner Funeral Home, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her pastor, The Rev. Brenda M. Ritterpusch, officiating. A viewing will be held from 7-9:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Born June 15, 1930, in Glen Cove, Long Island, Mrs. Everhart was the daughter of the late Swen and Filia (Pedersen) Woodland. Mrs. Everhart was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School and, after receiving a degree in interior design from Edgewood Park Junior College, she worked as a designer for Gailey's Furniture Store. She later worked for both Tioga Mills and DeVono Menswear. A member of Advent Lutheran Church, Mrs. Everhart was involved for many years with its Sunday school and nursery programs. She volunteered for WITF television, coordinating donations for its annual auctions; she was an early supporter of and organizer for the York Hospital Fete; and she was a member of the Child Study Club. Mrs. Everhart also was active with the York Art League, where she exhibited pastel, oil, and watercolor paintings. She had a passion for ballroom dancing and participated in various competitions over the years. She was a former member of the Out Door Country Club. Mrs. Everhart is survived by three daughters, Lisa Anjou Everhart of Arlington, VA, Meredith M. Carey of York, and Heidi S. Everhart of Wyndmoor, PA, and four grandchildren: Cameron Sprenkle, and Griffin, Gunnar, and Marnie Feist. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Everhart, who passed away March 17, 1955, and by her loving husband, Byron, who passed away on July 16 of last year.
