EXETER TOWNSHIP - Margaret T. Ulmer, 85, of Mechanicsville, passed away Friday at her daughter's residence in Exeter Township. Born in Mechanicsville on Aug. 12, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Raymond T. and Liza Cockill Thornburg. She was a 1941 graduate of Pottsville High School. She was the manager in the children's department for 20 years at the former Pomeroy's in Pottsville. Margaret was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Pottsville. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary for the Mechanicsville Hose Company. She loved to organize shopping trips with her circle of friends. She also loved to read and do puzzles. Margaret was a fanatic Phillies fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Ulmer, who passed away in 1985; her sister, Olive Thompson. Surviving are her daughter, Connie Whalen, wife of Edward, Exeter Township; her son, Rick Ulmer, husband of Tammy, Harleysville; her five grandchildren, Pam Hoffman, Jen Nein, Jonathan, Mark and David Ulmer; her six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Charles Baber Cemetery Chapel, West Market Street, Pottsville. Interment will be in Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville.
