Margaret Rae (Gladfelter) Rockelman

JACOBUS- Margaret Rae (Gladfelter) Rockelman, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at her residence. She was the wife of John S. Rockelman. The couple wed on April 25, 1959. A celebration of life tribute service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend David W. Haines officiating. A viewing will be from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery. Born on April 16, 1932, Margaret was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mabel (Campbell) Gladfelter. She was a 1950 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and graduated in 1953 from York Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Rockelman and her husband owned and operated Rockelman’s Nursery in Spry. Mrs. Rockelman attended Living Word Community Church where she was an active group leader. Margaret was a member of the York Hospital School of Nursing Alumni. She enjoyed spending many summers in Avalon. Along with her husband, John, Mrs. Rockelman is survived by two sons, John L. Rockelman and his wife, Karmen of Dublin, OH and Steven M. Rockelman and his wife, Melissa of West Chester, PA; two daughters, Renee’ K. Haines of Bedminster, PA and Susan E. Duerr and her husband, Andrew of York; 16 grandchildren, Amy, Christopher, Cameron, Connor, Johnnie, Caleb, Alison, Malia, Benjamin, Jack, Mary, Daniel, Aaron, Aiva, Nathaniel and baby girl Duerr; one great grandson, Jacob; two brothers, Lloyd William “Bill” Gladfelter and Gordon Gladfelter of Dover; and a son in law, Benjamin Barshinger of Spring Grove. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne M. Barshinger, who passed away on March 1, 2005; and a son in law, David A. Haines, who passed away on June 21, 2011.
