GILLETT- Margaret R. "Peggy" Gately passed away in her home in Gillett, PA in the care of her family on August 12, 2007. She was born in Malden, MA on October 21, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Ella (Buchanan) Button. Peggy is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Edward David Gately, and her three brothers: William, Edward, and Robert Buchanan. Peggy is survived by her daughter Kathleen Foster and her husband Basil Foster of Gillett, PA and daughter Nancy Matteson and her husband Paul Matteson of Pownal, ME. She is also survived by her two step grandchildren Paul David and Kristin Matteson and her three step great grandchildren Tyler and Kaitlyn Roderick and Mieke Matteson. Margaret was a graduate of Melrose High School and employed by Mutual Life Insurance and the Hudson School System. She resided in Hudson, MA for over 50 years where she lovingly cared for her family. Peggy cherished her family and was most happy at holiday family gatherings in Pennsylvania and Maine. She was a true dog lover and her last two dogs, Casey and Buttons were a joy and comfort to her. With the loss of much of her sight she spent many hours on sunny porches listening to books on tape, finding one she hadn't read was quite a chore. Peggy had many "to the point" sayings which her family will long remember. Her love and sense of humor will be remembered by friends and family. Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday after the visitation at the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will follow the service in St. Michaels Cemetery. Local Pennsylvania arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to the Massachusetts Humane Society, P.O. Box 890127 East Weymouth, MA 02189. Our family mourns the loss of Peggy and is comforted by the many warm memories of our life with her.
