Margaret L. (Fitzkee) Shearer

YORK- Margaret L. (Fitzkee) Shearer, 77, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Harvey A. Shearer. Born May 31, 1939 in York, Margaret was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Pauline (Moul) Fitzkee. She grew up in Violet Hill and was a graduate of York High, class of 1957. Margaret worked for 27 years as a teacher’s aide at Leib Elementary in the Dover Area School District until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of St. David's Evangelical Congregational Church in Dover. Margaret enjoyed crossword and jig-saw puzzles, bingo, shopping and decorating her home for the different seasons. She was very proud of her family whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Shearer is survived by four sons, Brad Shearer and his wife Vivian of Charlevoix, MI, Brian Shearer and his wife Linda of East Berlin, Blaine Shearer and his wife Lynda of York, and Brent Shearer and his wife Faith of York; a daughter, Beverly Bowers and her husband Brian of York; 12 grandchildren, Tony (Tonya), David (Natalie), Cassi (Chuck), Ashley, Brian Jr., Bethany, Rachel (Joshua), Benjamin, Rebekah, Erica, Mark, and Laura; five great grandchildren, Kaidence, Addison, Ava, Trey, and Colton, and a brother, David Fitzkee and his wife Betty of York. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at St. David's Evangelical Congregational Church, 2411 Oakland Road, Dover, with her Pastor, Reverend Pat Teaford, officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements.
