Margaret (Heffner) Criswell

Margaret M. (Heffner) Criswell, 85, of Felton, went home to be with her heavenly family on Monday, November 5, 2012. Margaret was born in Bittersville, PA on March 1, 1927, daughter of the late William and Elbie Reisinger. She was a lifelong member of Winterstown United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and loved to help with rummage and bake sales, always baking her favorite pies for banquets, bake sales and picnics. She retired from Dallco, Inc. after thirteen years and also worked as an assistant cook at the North Hopewell Elementary School for seven years. As the mother of two young boys, she enjoyed going along and picking tomatoes and potatoes with them at a nearby farm. She enjoyed farm life, but not housework! Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Runkle Criswell; they would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 23, 2012. She is also survived by two sons, Gary Criswell and wife Cindy of Gardners, and Randy Criswell and wife Eunice of Felton; four grandchildren, Amy Criswell, Robin Tarbert, Aaron Criswell, and Ethan Criswell, and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Tarbert. Margaret is also survived by one brother, Woodrow Heffner and one sister, Flo Gohn; she was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Heffner, Mervin Heffner, Gene Heffner, and Dale Heffner, and sisters, Mary Sinclair, Ruth Paules, and Treva Parlett. Margaret was a 32 year survivor of cancer. In lieu of flowers, she requested memorial contributions to one of the following: Winterstown United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton, PA 17322; Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Robert Heffner, 11071 Short Cut Road, Felton, PA 17322; or the American Cancer Society, 924 North Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 546 Pleasant Grove Road, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.
