Windsor—Margaret E. “Peggy” (Curran) Keener, 73, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at her residence in Windsor Township. She was the wife of Jay A. Keener. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on February 28, 2013. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday February 1, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, 220 N. Charles Street, Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. William H. Cluley officiating. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born October 23, 1939 in Red Lion, she was a daughter of the late Luther A. and Margaret L. (Trimmer) Curran. She graduated from Red Lion High School in 1957 and with the last graduating class of York Hospital School of Nursing in 1979. She was employed as a Registered Nurse with York Hospital for 13 years. She also worked as an RN at the former Seitz’s Nursing Home in Dallastown and private duty nursing care. A member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the church choir, vacation Bible school director, nursery Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. She was a Girl Scout Leader of Troop 467 for many years, PTA President at Windsor Manor Elementary School, enjoyed outdoor activities, tending her plants and flowers and loved family vacations and later more extensive world travel with her husband. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Keener is also survived by, three daughters, Cindy L. Christenberry and husband, Joey of Yoe, Linda S. Yelle and husband, Harry of Chazy, NY and Teresa L. Goodling and husband, Jeff of Dallastown; two sons, Craig A. Keener and wife, Leona of Mt. Joy and Blaine L. Keener and wife, Julie of Abingdon, MD; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Andy, Ryan, Erica, Jacob, Luke, Devon and Camden; six great grandchildren, Adam, Hayden, Ryder, Logan, Paisley and Ethan; one brother, Joe Curran of Spring City and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Smallbrook and Betty Winn. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Food Pantry, 220 N. Charles St., Red Lion, PA 17356 or Alzheimer’s Assoc., 225 North Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601 or a charity of your choice.
