Margaret E. Betty" Stagemyer

New York—Margaret E. "Betty" Stagemyer, 95, formerly of York died Friday, September 28, 2007 at DeWitt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Manhattan, New York. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Stagemyer. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Mt. Rose Cemetery, with the Rev. Norman E. Spangler III of Otterbein United Methodist Church in York, officiating. A funeral cortege will form at the main entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc.; 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Stagemyer was born July 2, 1912 in York, a daughter of the late George E. and M. Elizabeth (Leader) Wasbers. She was a longtime volunteer with the York Historical Society. Her exceptional and dedicated work in York, earned her the opportunity for employment with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where she was Clerk of the Photo Studio for 10 years. Life long member of the United Methodist Church, she was currently attending Park Ave United Methodist Church in New York City and formerly attended Otterbein United Methodist Church in York. She loved the ballet and visiting museums. Mrs. Stagemyer is survived by her son, Clarence D. "Deak" Stagemyer of York, her daughter, Sydney M. Stagemyer and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 301 W. Philadelphia St., York, Pa 17404.
