Margaret D. (Lorentsen) Carlson

YORK-Margaret D. (Lorentsen) Carlson, 88, of West Manchester Township, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late William A. Carlson, with whom she had lived happily ever after with for almost 70 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Road in York, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Her Pastor, The Reverend Kathy Swords will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery in York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Carlson was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Albert M. and Victoria G. (Carlsen) Lorentsen. She retired in 1985 from J.C. Penny in York. Mrs. Carlson was a member of Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to Atlantic City, and especially going on cruises with her husband. All who had the privilege and good fortune of knowing Aunt Margie can attest as to what a gift and lesson she was to us all. She had an unshakable faith that sustained her through her many losses, especially the loss of both of her sons and that of her husband. Her health took a toll on her body and it did nothing to shake her spirit and zest for life. She remained always happy, grateful and loving. In short to me, she was my Joy. It was an honor and a pleasure for my sister and me to share the last few months of her life with her. We will be forever grateful for that time. She departed this life with peace in her soul and the grace of a life well lived. Mrs. Carlson leaves a brother, Richard P. Lorentsen as well as nieces, nephews and extended family including her loving care giver & buddy, Maria (Barb) Sanchez. It goes without saying that she had many, many friends as well. Two sons, Robert A. Carlson and William D. Carlson preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer, Patient Help Fund, Suite 194, York, PA 17403 or American Heart Association, York County Division, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
